A very brief history of the best guitar company on the planet: In 1950, the Fender Electric Instrument Company (now Fender® Musical Instruments Corporation, or FMIC) introduced the Broadcaster (soon to be renamed the Telecaster®), along with its single-pickup variant, the Esquire®. Initially maligned and ridiculed by some, this revolutionary design proceeded to turn the industry on its head. It's hard to imagine popular music, or even popular culture, without it.
And then, another coup. In 1951, the Precision Bass® was introduced, and became so influential that for years afterward the phrase "Fender bass" was synonymous with any fretted electric bass that was played horizontally like a guitar. Few companies ever experience this process of virtually defining an industry, but despite these two soaring successes, Fender's best work was yet to come. |

It came in 1954, with the release of the Stratocaster®, the single most successful and influential guitar design ever produced. That these three seminal designs came from a single company within a five year period is difficult to fathom. No other company has been as influential in the world of electric guitars before or since, and FMIC's founder, Leo Fender, is indisputably the most influential guitar maker of all time. Along with his partner, Don Randall, Fender built a company that set the standard for electric guitars for decades to come. FMIC is still setting the standard, and is the largest US manufacturer of electric guitars and basses.
And so, with that fanfare, Acme Guitar Works is proud to offer Fender® electric guitars and basses for sale. At this time we'll only be offering the Mexican Fenders, which are made in-house at Fender's factory in Ensenada, Mexico. |
