This is a used Fender® '62 Telecaster® Custom Reissue, made in Japan in 1997 (we think). We've had the guitar for about 7 years, it was originally bought as a shop Tele to use for testing. It's in pretty good shape, but does have a few dents and scratches. The guitar weighs 7.70 pounds. Sold as-is.

This is a particularly nice guitar, which is why it stayed around for so long. Most people who pick it up for a few minutes sing its praises; it makes friends easily. And it sounds absolutely killer.
We've completely upgraded the guitar. The fretboard radius of 7.25" has been retained, but we refretted it with taller fretwire, and made a new nut for it. The original bridge is intact - with the serial number stamped into it - but we've replaced the saddles with Callaham enhanced compensated brass saddles. We like the way the 3-saddle Tele bridges sound with brass saddles, but the compensation provided by the Callaham saddles also allows the intonation to be set properly, so that the guitar plays in tune.
The pickups have been replaced with Lollar Vintage pickups. These sound wonderful, they'll please the most discriminating Tele guys. The wiring has been changed as well. The control plate was replaced with a Callaham plate that was made especially for this guitar, where the volume control has been relocated nearer to the tone control, allowing you to get your fingers between the switch lever and the volume knob. It looks a little out of place at first, but sure makes a difference when you're trying to access the switch.
When we replaced the pickups, we completely rewired the guitar with a 4-way switch. This allows you to get the three traditional Tele combinations, but also allows you to combine the two pickups in series, in addition to parallel. We did this differently than Fender's convention though: Whereas Fender puts the series combination in position 4, we put it in position 3. Our thinking is that you'll spend more time in the neck position than the series position, so make the neck and bridge positions easy to find by placing them in the traditional positions (all the way forward and all the way back):
Position
4: neck pickup
Position 3: neck pickup + bridge pickup (series)
Position 2:
neck pickup + bridge pickup (parallel)
Position 1: bridge pickup
This guitar became my personal guitar by happenstance. I played Strats for 15 years, and while I'd owned several Teles over the years, this was the first one that became my main guitar. It insinuated itself into my life almost by accident and I haven't played a Strat as my main guitar since. In fact, I sold my last Strat a couple of years ago. Guitars come and go, and there are always a bunch of cool Strats and Teles around Acme, so there's a little of the "flavor of the month" thing that happens around here, where we'll fall in love with every cool new guitar we unbox. This guitar doesn't really represent what we sell, since we don't sell Japanese Fenders or Lollar pickups, so it's time for it to find a new home. We hope it finds a good one.
